What to do in Yiwu after 5pm ? Travel Experience By TripAdvisor Forum

Since “ask around” seemed to be the best advice that could be given, here’s my experience with nightlife in the past 6 weeks that I’ve been in yiwu. There are primarily two bar areas that I found.

wwFirst of all, the top english google/bing result for yiwu bars and yiwu clubs leads to the infamously outdated ‘let your hair down’ article. It lists 4 places that are good for foreigners. Dena Pub (#2) has been replaced by a whisky bar for at least two years. A classy little place, though no food is served. Gebi Pub (#3) was nowhere to be found, and a few of the people I asked said there used to be a bar nearby but it’s gone. I didn’t check for the 88 Club (#4 on the list) so I cannot confirm or deny it’s current existence.

The only bar that article was right about was Means bar. It’s in an area that was once a very busy bar and club scene with at least half a dozen places right next to each other, but the ‘fire administration agency’ shut most of them down, leaving only the largest one standing: Means bar. The venue is honestly pretty amazing. High ceilings, interesting decorations, intermittent shows, good music, and professional dancers. It was interesting to see that there were pretty much no patrons dancing, especially considering how incredibly loud, bassy and house-y the music was. There are a lot of very very expensive drinks and services available if you want. Table service for about 200USD. A bottle of their premium Cognac for 1100USD. Or get on the stage lined with fireworks (that last about 30 seconds) and model dancers for 10,000+USD. The amount of money some people spend here is outrageous. But it doesn’t have to cost that much. Just get a few drinks on the main floor and you’re missing nothing. Bring earplugs to this place.

The other area where you’ll find a nightlife scene is a little pub & restaurant villa just south of the underground walmart. There’s M-Box, this bar with a sign that suggests it’s a strip club (it’s not), which has some English speaking staff, and serves a decent burger. Coco is a thai restaurant with live music in the evenings (top 40 hits sung pretty well), and a great curry dish. There’s an Italian pizza and gelato restaurant. There was also a brewery, two other bars, and KTV venue which I didn’t check out, but were all surrounded the same garden area.
